OBWAKYABAZINGA Bwa Busoga (OBB) Ministry of Health in partnership with RHITES EC project funded by USAID has gone ahead with its Health improvement plan for Busoga region.
Yesterday another workshop for all the Clan Leaders and the Kingdom Ministers has taken place at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe. - This workshop of over 70 participants has been facilitated by the Kingdom Health Ministers Owek. Dr. Andrew Balyeku and Owek. Sheila Birungi Gandi and is a follow up of the SURGE implementation strategy under RHITES EC aimed at Orienting Busoga Kingdom Officials on the Tx new SURGE Plan, To equip Busoga Kingdom Officials with required knowledge, skills and tools to implement the Tx new SURGE Plan and to work with the officials to integrate Tx new SURGE Plan activities in their existing platforms and day to day activities. - This feeds very well into the Presidential fast track initiative to end AIDS by 2030 in the Country. - Today Busoga demographics indicate HIV positive status per district are at 69% in Bugiri, 51% in Namayingo, 62% in Namutumba, 87% in Iganga, 272% in Jinja, 66% in Mayuge, 79% in Buyende, 63% in Kaliro and 80% in Kamuli. - The research was done 10 weeks ago under the Tx new SURGE Plan. - The Ministry will tomorrow hold another structure of the Chiefs Royal Council (Bambedha and Abalangira) and all leaders of traditional healers/herbalists. - The plan looks at identifying only those HIV positives who are still hidden in the high risk groups like, fishermen and Boda boda riders among others. - OBB also full fills the pronouncements made by the King where boys and men were called upon to be champions of not only HIV but health service uptake. OBB continuously plans to meet the Youth leadership structures on 8th May, 2018 to get the same orientation. Make sure you get checked for your HIV status.
